I have wanted to take pictures of the Cotton District statue for around four years and last night I finally did!
The Cotton District is a section of Starkville, Mississippi. It was designed with themes inspired by Charleston, South Carolina, New Orleans, and Europe. As someone who studied classical history, I particularly love the classical motifs, especially the statue.
I think that the Cotton District makes a great location for portraits, too! There are so many bright colors and it is beautiful everywhere. If you have a portrait session there you are sure to get a lot of variety in your images!
The first year that I was a Student at Mississippi State University I drove through the Cotton District almost every day on my way home from class. I always found the Cotton District inspirational and it definitely influenced my photography style.
I used my Nikon D750 and my Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens to take these photographs. If you are interested in what gear I am currently using, contact me here! It would be fun to discuss this subject with you.
I had so much fun taking pictures of the Cotton District statue. I photographed from different angles so that I could get the ivy and different architecture in the background. It was a fun challenge.
Do you enjoy visiting the Cotton District? I would love to help you plan a portrait session in the Cotton District, or anywhere in Starkville!
